Psst!
You wanna be an author?
Anybody
who has ever enquired about the possibility of getting a book published
will know what a tortuous exercise it can be. The submission, the months
of waiting, the rejection letters, sometimes no rejection letters –
and all this before even a word has been proof-read, edited, revised,
cut, lengthened or altered.
In 1997 an aspiring author reflected on the seemingly endless morass
of trying to get a book published and decided there must be an easier
way. He formed AuthorHouse which, in the intervening ten years, has
grown to become the leading self-publishing company in the world.
Now the recent partnership between AuthorHouse and Borders bookstore
looks set to pay dividends for one potentiall author as the two companies
are holding a competition for one lucky winner to avail of AuthorHouse’s
premium package book publishing service. This prize, worth €2,500,
includes the book’s design and publication and it will go on sale
at participating stores, including Blanchardstown.
The AuthorHouse team were on hand in Borders this week, offering some
general tips for writers keen to get their work in print, as well as
discussing the various packages available through AuthorHouse. But do
not despair if you missed them.
The competition runs until 18th February and all you have to do to enter
is to go into Borders and leave your name and address in the box at
the Information desk. Alternatively, if you are a subscriber to Border’s
newsletter, you can enter online.
