Start your own business

While many people still appreciate the concept of the “safe, secure pensionable job”, more and more people are considering the prospect of being their own boss and setting up in business for themselves. Such entrepreneurs are being ably assisted in these ventures by various state sponsored agencies and for Dublin 15 residents one of the most supportive of these is the Fingal County Enterprise Board (FCEB).

The board has now taken the level of its support a step further with the recent announcement of Ireland’s first FETAC accredited programme for aspiring entrepreneurs. Oisín Geoghegan

The ‘Start Your Own Business’ programme which is open to anyone living or working in Fingal, is organised by Fingal County Enterprise Board and funded by FÁS.

The new ten week part-time course is suitable for anyone seriously thinking of setting up their own business in Ireland and two courses will commence in the coming weeks at the FCEB offices in Swords.

Fingal County Enterprise Board is the first Enterprise Board in Ireland to offer such a programme with FETAC-accreditation and the ten workshops are designed around specific modules to prepare potential entrepreneurs to set up and run their own business in the coming years.

“The suite of workshops in this new programme are practical, informative, hands-on and highly relevant,” said CEO Oisín Geoghegan. “More importantly, the programme is now FETAC-accredited and is dictated by the real-world needs of small business in Ireland.”

Delivered by experienced tutors, the costs of running the programmes are subsidised by FÁS and participants will only have to pay €300 in fees. As a further incentive, participants who complete the course successfully, will receive a €100 refund with their FETAC accreditation.

The first 10 week course will commence on Thursday January 27th and the second on Tuesday February 5th. Places are limited and can be booked on-line at www.fingalceb.ie.

Further information is available by contacting the Enterprise Board (tel. 01-8900 800 or e-mail: info@fingalceb.ie).
