Accused
man fails to appear
One of the two men charged in relation to the death of 15 year old Rebekah
Kiely outside Russell Park on the old Navan Road has again failed to
appear in court to face the charges.
David Griffiths of Phoenix Court, Castleknock was originally due before
Dublin District Court last November to face one charge of assault on
a man and a public order offence. When he failed to turn up for the
hearing a warrant was issued for his arrest. The case was again listed
for January 31st but did not go ahead as Mr. Griffiths had not been
located.
Rebekah was struck on the head with a baseball bat during a fight involving
two men on November 10th, 2006. She died in hospital from her injuries
almost two weeks later.
David Griffiths and another man, Gerard Farmer, were charged in relation
to events which took place on the night, but Mr. Farmer subsequently
died from a suspected drugs overdose days before he was due to appear
in court.
