| €3.9m approved for local road works Fingal County Council has adopted a programme of transportation works for the coming years with an estimated cost of €3.9m. The programme included works to improve local roads and footpaths as well as providing new pedestrian crossings and traffic calming schemes in the area. The expenditure will cover the cost of installing new pedestrian crossings in Carpenterstown, on the Blackcourt Road in Corduff and on the Diswellstown Road, while traffic calming schemes will be implemented in Bramblefields, Talbot Downs, the old Navan Road, Phoenix Estate and The Pines as well as at the entrance to Castleknock Community College. Almost 30 estates in Dublin 15 will benefit from the provision of footpath improvements and road resurfacing works are planned for Hartstown Road, Huntstown Way and Auburn Avenue. Flood relief projects are also proposed for Castleknock Road, Blanchardstown Village, Orchard Court, Castleknock Avenue and the Huntstown/Hartstown Road. Some work intended for last year has also been provided for in the coming months including the long awaited review of the current one-way traffic system on the Clonsilla Road as well as improvements to the junction at Luttrellstown Castle and the completion of a cycle track between Carpenterstown and the Blanchardstown Centre. Local councillors have welcomed the proposed works, many of which they have been lobbying for on behalf of local residents for some time. Cllr. Eithne Loftus told Community Voice “I’m very pleased with the 2008 programme as it contains a large number of projects that I have sought funding for.”
