Legends
serve up terrific game of handball in memory of Julie Long
A
large crowd gathered in Russell Park for the inaugural Julie Long Memorial
Weekend. There was great sadness when Julie passed away last year at
the tender age of 25 and the weekend proving a fitting memorial. The
Long Family was present at Friday evening's exhibition night including
Julie's young daughters Sophie & Amy.
The crowd was treated to a terrific game of handball from several legends
of the game including Michael Duxie Walsh & Wicklow's Michael Cregan
and Dublin's Egin Jenson & Eoin Kennedy who served up a great match.
Kennedy and Jenson took the first game 21-16 and it looked set for a
third game when Cregan and Walsh led 18-11 in the second but Kennedy
and Jenson showed all of Julie's terrific battling qualities to win
out 21-18.
The players were presented with T-Shirts with Julie's picture on the
back.
The St. Brigid's club extended a special thanks to the players for the
great game which everyone thoroughly enjoyed especially the many budding
handballers in attendance.
