Calling all entrepreneurs

Organised by the Fingal County Enterprise Board and funded by FÁS, the “Start Your Own Business” programme is looking for potential entrepreneurs in Dublin 15.

The part-time course is suitable for anyone seriously thinking of setting up their own business and begins in the LINC Centre at the Institute of Technology in Blanchardstown on Thursday April 3rd, one evening a week for ten weeks.

Each week, participants grapple with a different topic, such as legal issues or marketing, in a series of workshops that are designed to come together to help the potential business person through the pitfalls of starting their own business. Other topics include sales targets, selling and approach; budgets, costs and break even analysis; market research methods; cash flow forecast; profit and loss accounts and the balance sheet.

“The Fingal County Enterprise Board is the first Enterprise Board area in Ireland to offer this programme with FETAC-accreditation and the ten workshops are designed around specific modules to prepare potential entrepreneurs to set up and run their own business in the coming years,” said a spokesperson for the FCEB. “Delivered by experienced tutors in the LINC Centre at the Institute of Technology in Blanchardstown, the costs of running the programmes are subsidised by FÁS and participants pay just €300 in fees. On successful completion, participants receive a €100 refund with their FETAC accreditation.”

This is the second ‘start your own business’ programme for Dublin 15 in 2008 and, as competition for places is likely to be brisk, potential applicants are advised to book online at www.fingalceb.ie. or contact the Fingal County Enterprise Board offices on (01) 8900 800 or by e-mail at info@fingalceb.ie

This programme is not to be confused with the highly successful “Start your own business” series of workshops run by Niall Comber of Blanchardstown Area Partnership since 2006. These free workshops are run from Dillon House in the Coolmine Industrial Estate.

In addition to organising and running these workshops, Niall can help guide budding entrepreneurs through the steps required to turn their idea into a business venture. Free confidential advice, support, mentoring and guidance are available and provided to all considering self employment.
