A
rub of the green
Lá
le Pádraig was celebrated in style by the young girls of Scoil
Bhríde when all 300 plus pupils came together in the school’s
hall for a morning of céilí dancing and general entertainment.
All the girls and indeed all of their teachers as well, were dressed
for the occasion in the traditional ‘forty shades of green’
and if the truth be told some of the teachers even managed to concoct
a forty first and forty second shade of that colour also.
The school is host to many nationalities these days but for the national
holiday all of them celebrated the best of Irish culture, albeit with
a slightly international twist. Proceedings were compered by Larry the
Leprechaun and each class performed their particular party piece with
varying degrees of talent but 100% enthusiasm.
At the end of a long morning, principal Deirdre Kirwan expressed herself
completely satisfied with the success of the day’s celebrations.
