Under 9s enjoy first home game for Sporting Fingal
Sporting
Fingal, the new North County Dublin Eircom League team, kicked off its
first home match at Morton Stadium on the Sunday prior to St. Patrick’s
Day, winning the First Division game against Athlone Town 2-0.
Corduff’s Under 9 team was invited out for the occasion - which
drew a large 1,234 crowd - to play an exhibition match at half- time
versus Rivervalley Rangers. The team enjoyed the day out and lapped
up the applause they received at half-time.
Dylan Travers, a Corduff player, and a Liverpool fan in his spare time,
said he really enjoyed the match and was looking forward to coming back
again. Asked whom he thought played well for the older lads that day
he said ‘Number 10 (Paul Caffrey) and Number 11 (Robbie Doyle).’
Given that Dylan selected the Man of the Match and one of the best young
wingers in the division, it shows that the young Corduff players cannot
only play a good game, but talk one too.
