15 will be one of the first 20 locations in which the HSE has agreed
to fund the infrastructure for a primary care team, following the completion
of its recent tendering process.
Of the initial 20 locations chosen around the country only three are
in the greater Dublin area – one in Clondalkin, one in Blanchardstown
and one in the north east inner city.
Late last year, the HSE launched a major advertising campaign seeking
submissions from parties who could develop or provide suitable primary
care facilities at a selection of approximately 100 locations around
the country. As a result over 150 submissions were received from individuals
and companies, many of which were multiple submissions expressing interest
in more than one location.
Community Voice understands that the 20 selected locations
will have infrastructure provided by a mix of both GPs and third party
developers. The move by the HSE to provide infrastructure for primary
care has been welcomed by the Irish Medical Organisation as “long
overdue”.
