All aboard the Enterprise express

Many local residents will be happy to hear of a new bus coming to the area this month. However before anyone gets carried away with the notion that it marks an improvement in local bus services, it should be noted that the bus in question is aimed at helping people set up in business for themselves rather than improving their commuting opportunities to the city centre.Pictured at the launch of the Enterprise Bus for Fingal are (L-R) Oisín Geoghegan, Fingal County Enterprise Board and Paddy Lonergan, Bank of Ireland

The Enterprise Bus, a joint initiative between Fingal County Enterprise Board (FCEB) and Bank of Ireland Business Banking, will be travelling throughout Fingal this month and anyone considering setting up in business for themselves or growing an existing business is invited to hop on board when it visits Dublin 15.

With business advisers offering free enterprise advice, information and mentoring support on-board for pre-start-up, new and existing businesses, over 300 people are expected to visit the bus during its five day tour of Fingal.

According to Oisín Geoghegan, CEO of Fingal County Enterprise Board, “the Enterprise Bus will bring information about the support services available to Fingal’s doorstep. As this is a free service, with no appointment necessary, we are expecting that our business advisers will be kept busy over the five days.

“With instant access to information about grant funding, starting your own business programmes, management development workshops, financing and business networks, we would encourage anyone who’s interested in finding out about these supports to come on-board,” he said.

On the first day of its journey, Tuesday May 6th, the Enterprise Bus will start its journey at the BASE Enterprise Centre in Mulhuddart, before travelling to Plato Business Park and Damastown Way Business Park. In the early afternoon the bus will visit ITB and the LINC centre before continuing its journey to Northwest Business Park and Rosemount Business Park in Ballycoolin.

Over the following days the bus will visit other parts of Fingal before returning to Dublin 15 on Saturday May 10th, when it will spend the morning at the Blanchardstown Centre.

Following a nationwide journey over the coming months, the bus will again return to Fingal in September, to coincide with the Fingal Day of Enterprise on September 25th.
