Benefit night for family of young footballer

The recent benefit night organised by Mountview Boys & Girls football club for the family of 10 year old Peter Whelan who died tragically in Coolmine swimming pool in March, was a great success. The event which took place in Salmons attracted a great turnout from the local community.

Peter, a pupil of Scoil Mhuire in Blakestown, was a rising star with the Mountview club and in a game on the morning of his death had been nominated man of the match for his performance.

Mick Harrop, chairman of Mountview FC paid tribute to all who supported the event.
