                           Corduff FC Notes

Now that season 07/08 is over for all but one team in the club, the following is the plan of action for the off season. The two under 7s are naturally going to be under 8s next season, and with some of the kids eligible to go back to under 7s again, there will be extra places for under 8s next season.

The club hopes to have two under 7s teams for September if possible. The kids are there from the successful nursery and the only obstacle is the age old issue of getting managers to run teams. Anyone who is interested in becoming a coach or manager for season 08/09 and are interested in doing the relevant FAI courses should contact the club as we will put you through them. The Corduff team which distinguished itself during the past season.

The nursery for 4, 5 and 6 year olds is still going, however new members at this stage should wait until the open day that we will announce for early July. The time will change to 1pm - 2pm every Saturday in the sports hall and or all-weather synthetic pitch. The cost as always will remain as €2 a session. This way, if someone misses a session, they don’t pay. No need for membership fees.

The under 10s from this season will be going 11-a-side in season 08/09 and the team is looking for particularly strong players to complement a settled team. They must have been born in 1997. The under 9 league winning side will be going 9-a-side next season and will have three places available. This is a very strong team and players would have to be particularly good to make this side.

The under 11 premier side is going under-12 and has places for strong players born in 1996 to compliment a good team. At this stage, beginners would find it hard to enter in to a team that has been together almost six years. A coach is also required to assist with this team.

Corduff will boast four adult teams next season. This will cover Division 3 Saturday for the lads who simply want to play ball. There will be the main squad divided into three teams in the form of Division 2 Sunday, a senior Saturday (highest division) reserve team and of course the Premier A team.

Premier A is the number one junior division in the country and any player who rates themselves should see if they can make the first team and compete against the likes of Ballymun, Killester, St. Kevin’s, Sherrif and Portmarnock in this division. For players of 19 to 20, there is a team here for you after leaving schoolboy football to help work your way up.

Pitch 1 in Corduff looks finally to be getting its supporters’ rail erected. This will be a fantastic asset to the area and will compliment the superb facilities that Corduff now boasts. Some generous donations have come in already and if anyone else out there wants to have their company advertised on this rail during match days, they should make contact with the club.
