Coolmine
RFC under 16s represent Leinster schools
At the recent official opening of Coolmine’s all weather pitches,
four members of the club’s under-16 squad were presented with
plaques to commemorate representing Leinster schools during the season
by IRFU president Der Healy.
The boys are students at Belvedere College which numbers such rugby
luminaries as Ollie Campbell and Tony O’Reilly – both of
whom represented Ireland and the Lions with distinction – among
its alumni.
The team enjoyed the rare pleasure for a Leinster team when it eclipsed
its Munster counterparts by winning matches against the southern province
in Cork and at Blackrock College in Dublin.
With the coaching available at Coolmine and the benefits of being attached
to a school which places such an emphasis on rugby, the future for these
young players appears to be bright.
