           Tech Check co-ordinator appointed

Fingal County Enterprise Board has recently appointed a new Tech Check Co-ordinator to further develop the successful Tech-Check programme it has been running for businesses throughout Fingal over the past year.

To date over 70 businesses in Fingal have already benefitted from Tech Check, and with the appointment of Pauline Lavin as the new co-ordinator this number is expected to grow even more in the coming months.

Tech-Check is an independent expert service for small business owners and managers which aims to help them improve their business through the use of technology. With the current economic slowdown, Irish companies are set to become even more reliant on technology and e-commerce to remain competitive.

Pauline, a former international marketing and trade co-ordinator for Invest NI and BRITE Programme co-ordinator, explained how the programme works: “When a company completes the on-line application form they’ll be matched with a Tech Check advisor from our panel of experienced mentors.

“After meeting the client face-to-face to assess how the company is using existing technologies, the advisor prepares an action plan for the company, with practical suggestions on how it can get more out of existing resources. Finally, the advisor meets the client a second time, to discuss future investment,” she said.

According to Pauline, “the end result of Tech Check is a set of practical measures covering phone systems and computer systems which companies can use to get more out of existing technology and make carefully chosen and planned investment in new technology.”

The Tech Check programme is strongly recommended by the County and City Enterprise Boards for all small-to-medium sized businesses. Thanks to significant subsidies from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, the cost of participating for local companies is only €150.
