Better
Ireland Awards
Three local voluntary organisations are currently battling it out to
see who can generate the most votes for their local project in a bid
to win a prize of €10,000 in this year’s AIB Better Ireland
Awards.
Each year community groups are invited to apply to take part in the
awards and based on their applications, three projects are chosen for
each bank branch area. The three groups competing for the €10,000
prize being awarded by AIB Blanchardstown are the Carers’ Association,
Northside Reading Workshop and Verona FC.
Supporters of the projects are invited to submit their vote by e-mail
or text before the march 15th closing date.
E-mail votes can be submitted on the awards website – www.betterireland.ie
Text votes can be submitted by sending a text to 51303 with the word
BLANCH followed by either A (Carers Association); B (Northside Reading
Workshop) or C (Verona FC).
This years’ competition has been the most successful to date with
over 1,300 applications received nationwide. According to Brenda Moriarty
of AIB, “these applications have now been short listed to 546
children’s projects and the public now have the opportunity to
vote for their preferred children’s project in their local area.
Our programme is all about local participation, local voting and local
benefit for children and we would encourage everyone to get behind their
chosen local project.”
At the time of going to press over 250,000 votes had already been cast
throughout the country.
Last year’s Better Ireland Award in Dublin 15 was won by Castaheany
Educate Together national school in Ongar.
