Castleknock
Ladies Golf Club – above Par
One
of the quiet sporting successes in the locality in recent times has
been the achievements of Castleknock’s ladies’ golfers.
Both the Challenge Cup team and the Intermediate Cup team are through
the early rounds of these competitions, knocking out long established
clubs like Howth, Sutton, Donabate, Roganstown and another local golf
club, Hollystown. The teams have celebrated their successes and are
eagerly looking forward to the next rounds on 21st June.
Castleknock’s Lady Captain, Miriam Rogers, is very proud of the
achievements of the 2010 ladies’ teams and says that the achievement
is all the greater for it being a small club which has hit the competitive
circuit of golf only in the last three years, but she especially welcomes
the results this year.
Furthermore Castleknock’s team in the Irish Mixed Foursomes has
also produced great results, having knocked out Deerpark and Ashbourne.
Their next match brings the competition nearer to home with a ‘head
to head’ with a local flavour against Westmanstown.
Golf enthusiasts who have played in Castleknock Golf Club will know
what a wonderful and challenging course it is presenting the golfer
with plenty of water-featured holes. It might be a case that the local
course is helping the ladies to prepare for any challenge that might
be thrown at them elsewhere if recent results are seen as an indicator.
