Speech, Language and Music: If you have three studio albums, one live album, a Meteor Music Award and a reputation of being one of the finest songsmiths to emerge from these islands, what would be your next logical step in your musical career?
Calling all writers: Following on from the artistic and indeed commercial success of the Phoenix Writers’ Group anthology “Phoenix Ink” which was published last December, the editorial team is now calling for submissions for the next opus due to be launched this November.
The Sonny side of the road: Sonny Knowles is the ultimate survivor. It takes a special kind of appeal and an almost obsessively loyal fan base to still have the capacity to pull a crowd over half a century into one’s musical career.
Creation versus evolution: One of the great courtroom battles of the twentieth century was the famous Scopes Monkey Trial of 1925, in which a schoolteacher faced the full rigours of American law for daring to teach the Darwin theory of evolution in the classroom.
Travelling the Silk Road: If Margaret Farrell’s toddler daughter had not wandered into her studio and sought to transfer some of the paint from a still wet oil painting onto her hands and dungarees, then Margaret might not have reconsidered the medium in which she had been working. And if she had not taken a course in silk painting in Marlay Park as a result of this episode, then she might not have become the highly sought after silk artist that she is today.

Artist in Residency Scheme: Following on from this year’s highly successful pilot programme, the Arts Department of Fingal County Council is now seeking applications from Fingal schools for the Artist in Residence Scheme 2008/2009.
