An affair to remember: The Farmleigh affair, a two day world music festival that takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend in the scenic pleasures grounds, has very quickly announced itself to be one of the premier music festivals in these islands.

Korea opportunities: This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ireland and Korea and, as part of the celebrations, ten contemporary Korean artists including Kim You-sun, Jeong Yeon-doo and Suk Chul-ju have been invited to participate in an exhibition in Farmleigh entitled “To have or to be.”.
Taking the plunge: With two highly successful solo exhibitions under her belt – at the OPW in the Phoenix Park and the Origin Gallery in Harcourt Street – Castleknock artist Cliona Fox is contemplating a host of further avenues of exploration and future exhibitions.
The sound of the summer: It is difficult to imagine a more idyllic setting than Farmleigh on a Sunday afternoon with the trotting air of a concert band emanating from the bandstand pleasure grounds.Visitors will be serenaded by brass bands from Blanchardstown, silver bands from Navan and concert bands from Lucan.

The long walk home: The new Farmleigh writer in residence Dermot Bolger last year wrote a highly acclaimed play “Walking the Road” to mark the 90th anniversary of the death of Francis Ledwidge. This masterful play will be shown at Farmleigh’s prestigious ballroom at the end of August.

Sizwe Bansi is dead: Artistic director Kunle Animashaun, who lives in Delhurst in Ongar, has an eagerly anticipated production of Athol Fugard’s “Sizwe Bansi is dead” showing soon at the Project.

Watch out for Sweeney: This year the Coolmine Musical Society have opted to tackle the very dark “Sweeney Todd,” Stephen Sondheim’s horror musical about a demon barber of Fleet Street, popularised even further by last year’s Tim Burton directed film starring Johnny Depp
