Understanding Irish music: RTE personality, teacher and opera buff Ted Courtney, will deliver an eight week course in Blanchardstown Library this Autumn on “Irish Music: The European Experience.” And for anyone who might baulk at the title, Ted promises that there will be no mention of Dana, Johnny Logan or rapping turkeys.

Shorter but still sweet: Due to extensive renovations at Dublin 15’s premier centre for the arts, Draiocht’s autumn season of performance and visual arts will not commence until October and will therefore be considerably shorter than previous years.

Ballymun calling: The sedate surroundings of Farmleigh will be shaken and possibly stirred this month as the summer season at the venue draws to a close with a bang.

An introduction to Portugal: As part of the OPW’s ethos of bringing art, in all its forms and guises, from around the world to Ireland, Farmleigh is currently exhibiting a group exhibition called “Now let me introduce you…” by a quartet of current Portuguese artists.

The pride of Church Hill: This Sunday, visitors to the pleasure gardens in Farmleigh will have the opportunity to listen to one of the oldest, finest and groundbreaking silver bands in the country when the Church Hill Silver Band makes its Dublin debut.

And briefly... : A roundup of other Arts events taking place in Dublin 15 and beyond.
