A rare oul’ session at The Bell: Some of the finest traditional story tellers, singers and poets in the country will be appearing at a huge and very informal traditional evening in The Bell, Blanchardstown on October 3rd.

Bloodsuckers!: Boss Daley’s famous condemnation of his critics may have been down to his poor grasp of the English language but the power of the theatre critic to make or break a play, a writer or an actor has never been in doubt.

Young gifted and musical: There is evidence to suggest that the foetus at 20 weeks listens to music and, in fact, is able to remember songs heard in the womb up until one year after birth. At Castleknock School of Music, the training of young musicians doesn’t quite start at that early stage but they do enrol students from the age of two years!.

Róisín agus an Rón: Demonstrating Draíocht’s determination to bring as wide a range of the arts as possible to Dublin 15, the first show back after their summer hiatus will be the enchanting tale of “Róisín and the seal,” performed by Draíocht regulars Púca Puppets.

Local artists hold exhibition: Beauty and colour may be found in the Phoenix Park Visitor’s Centre Gallery by Ashtown Castle, where three local artists of some renown, John Byrne, Mary O’Callaghan and Eileen Howley will be exhibiting their wares throughout the month.

Down at the night club : Anybody who ever frequented the Dublin nightclub scene in the eighties or nineties will recognise the types - the sleazy DJ’s, the rugger buggers, the pogo-ing punks and the drunken slobs. And of course, the bouncers.

Heritage book launched : Linda Curran, Manager of the Blanchardstown Area Partnership, is well known in Dublin 15 for her commitment to the development of communities in the Dublin 15 area. Linda has just had her second book published recently on another subject very dear to her heart – local history.
