  Mixed reaction to childcare funding: There was a mixed reaction this week to the announcement that €158,500 was to be allocated to three childcare projects in the Dublin 15 area under the capital grant programme of the National Childcare Investment Programme (NCIP) 2006- 2010.


Niamh is the business: Castleknock commerce student Niamh Prenderville and three of her fresher colleagues from the UCD Quinn School of Business spent seven weeks preparing a report analysing a specific european industry such as energy, real estate or pharmaceuticals. A panel of Merrill Lynch judges in London reviewed the submitted reports and the BComm students’ analysis was rated one of the eight best.



Commercial property a good investment : Peter Quinn of Remax tells us that the commercial sector,is an area of the market that investors should seriously consider as it has stayed buoyant all along, despite the ups and downs of the residential sector.



The outlook for 2008 : The outlook for 2008 looks somewhat brighter with a combination of positive factors prevailing - stamp duty speculation is eliminated, lower stamp duty fees, fears regarding interest rate hikes have abated, vendors expectations have become more realistic and most economists predicting good growth for 2008.



Stamp duty changes boost property market : This year’s budget announcement by Minister for Finance, Brian Cowen, regarding changes in stamp duty rates, has certainly given a boost to the sales of residential property, according to John Fitzgerald of Property Partners Brady Fitzgerald.
