“Holey Trinity” golf classic: Last year St. Mochta’s parish fundraising committee held their first Golf Classic featuring the ubiquitously named “Holy-hole in-one” . The big attraction of the event was the prize of a new Mercedes sports car for anyone who managed to achieve a hole in one.



30 volunteers in 30 days: The Big Brother Big Sister scheme is an internationally renowned one to one mentoring programme that matches a caring adult volunteer to a young person in need of extra support and motivation in life. It is based on the simple idea of friendship and how a good teenage and adult friendship can be life changing.



Huntstown young people design calendar: In an innovative approach to introduce young people to the working of the Huntstown Community Youth Project (HYCP) local youth officer, John Kingsley Onwumereh recently came up with a most unusual idea to get local young people to examine their local community.



Building a well in Ghana: Community Voice previously reported the work of local man John Todd in visiting Ghana as part of an environmental project run by Earthwatch and his employer Cadbury-Schweppes. During his two week visit last year, John who is an engineer, undertook research on a number of environmental projects aimed at assisting the local population whose main livelihood comes from growing and harvesting cocoa.


Playing chess in Huntstown: One of the surprisingly popular activities now being developed in Huntstown Community Centre is in fact chess with a new children’s chess club taking place in the centre every Wednesday evening. Organised by the centre’s activities co-ordinator, Diane Treanor, the club is attracting members from the age of 6 years and upwards.

Hiking club seeks members: One local organisation that has proved very popular for those seeking outdoor activity in recent years is the Foróige Dublin 15 Hikers' Club. Operated by local adult volunteers and supported by Blanchardstown Youth Service the Dublin 15 Hikers Club caters for young people aged between the ages of 12 and 18.
