EOP celebrates five successful years:From little acorns, might oak trees grow and the little acorn known as the Blakestown Mountview Education Opportunities Programme (EOP) sown five years ago is now certainly a thriving tree of knowledge and success in that community.

Better Ireland programme seeks applicants: Children’s projects in the Dublin 15 area are being actively encouraged to apply for funding under the AIB Better Ireland programme.

Blanchardstown disability group twins with Ethiopian counterpart: A twinning has been announced between Blanchardstown Centre for Independent Living (CIL) and its equivalent in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.

Coolmine clients achieve coaching certificates: 17 young men from the Coolmine Therapeutic Centre on Grove Road, were the proud recipients of FAI coaching certificates following their recent completion of a Kick Start 1 course organised in Verona FC by Fingal County Council and FAI development officer, Mick Pender.

First aiders wanted: This year’s annual general meeting of the Dublin 15 branch of the Irish Red Cross heard details of the huge growth in demand for the local first aiders over the course of the past year.
Listening to young people: One of the more innovative youth projects last year was the publication of the ‘Blakestown Youth say it as it is” survey report.
Dublin 15’s Hot Fuzz: The Special Olympics Dublin 15 Sports Club has been successfully operating in the area since 2003 – the year that Ireland staged Special Olympics.There are currently 34 members on the club, which meets every Saturday morning in the sports hall at ITB but according to one of the club’s organisers, Bernie Stevenson, this is only scratching the surface.
The school around the corner - Tyrrelstown ETNS : It may be one of the newest schools in Dublin 15 but Tyrrelstown Educate Together is already making a mark on its community that would be the envy of many more established schools.
