Safety in the home :The last issue of Community Voice gave details of a number of local projects which have received funding from the Dormant Accounts Fund. The biggest grant recipient in the current batch of grants was Blanchardstown Area Partnership which received an allocation of €30,000 for a community security project.

Green flag flies over Blakestown: John Gormley, Minister for the Environment was the guest of honour at the recent celebration in Blakestown Community School to mark the awarding of a Green Flag to the school.

Diswellstown pupils support Bóthar: First Communion day is becoming synonymous with collecting money as most young boys and girls well know. While most children use their newly gained riches to purchase a Wii or a Playstation and other must have gifts, the pupils of St. Patrick’s national school in Diswellstown took a different approach to their improved financial status.

Hartstown wins a green flag: Along with their peers in Blakestown Community School, the pupils of Hartstown Community School along with their teachers, Breda Walshe and Jeremy Kerr were the proud recipients of one of the first two flags for second level schools recently.

Study of childcare services published: With such a young population it’s not surprising that local workers in the childcare field in Dublin 15 were to the fore in the recent publication of an excellent new study of community childcare services in Fingal.
Brigids’ supporters going to the races: As part of the fundraising efforts of local GAA club St. Brigid’s for the development of their Russell Park complex, the club is hosting a day at the races in Punchestown on Wednesday 23rd April.
Scoil Oilibhéir break SFX successful quiz run: This year’s Tráth na gCeist, the annual Irish language schools quiz organised by Blanchardstown Library to mark Seachtain na Gaeilge, proved to be something of a break with tradition.
A rub of the green: Lá le Pádraig was celebrated in style by the young girls of Scoil Bhríde when all 300 plus pupils came together in the school’s hall for a morning of céilí dancing and general entertainment.
