Green day at Scoil Oilibhéir: The weather may have been inclement but the drizzly conditions failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the 250 Gaelscoil students who took part in a Green Day of Action last week.

Lucky sevens at Blanchardstown Library: Traditionally seven has been regarded by many people as a lucky number. For seven visitors to Blanchardstown library on the seventh of this month it will be luckier than usual when the library celebrates its seventh birthday.

Tyrrelstown school raises funds for hospice: In March of this year the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Tyrrelstown Educate Together National School held a spring fair for the local community in the school buildings and grounds on Powerstown Road. The event proved to be a great success both socially and financially raising over €1,000.

Second pastoral council to be elected: The second Blanchardstown parish pastoral council will be elected at a special open assembly in Scoil Bríde school hall on 12th May. The aim of the council will be to build on the solid foundations established by the first council which was set up in June 2005.

Memories are made of this: Fingal County Council’s popular “Cleaner Communities Awards” for 2008 have just been launched by the environmental services department.
Cleaner communities: Castleknock Hotel & Country Club was the venue for a most unusual gathering recently when over 100 local people ranging in age from early teens to eighties received their certificates affirming their newly acquired computer skills.
Young people try to improve Tyrrelstown bus service: Julie Defranoux who is employed by Blanchardstown Youth Service to work with the young people of Tyrrelstown has recently assisted five of those young people to develop and complete a survey aimed at improving the quality of the bus service for the local community.
