Young entrepreneur scoops award: A teenager from Hazel Lawn in Blanchardstown village has landed a major national award for entrepreneurship. Tommy O’Connell won first prize in the non-school category at the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) awards ceremony in the RDS recently.

Three children’s projects battle for votes: Three Dublin 15 children’s projects are currently battling it out in a bid to decide which of them should receive €10,000 from the AIB Better Ireland Programme. The three are Castaheany Educate Together School; Coolmine Therapeutic Community; and Mountview / Blakestown Community Drug Team.

Commemoration and hope: This year’s annual service of commemoration and hope for people affected by drug-related deaths will take place in St Brigid’s Church in Blanchardstown Village on Wednesday 28th May.

Ladies lunching: This year’s Lunch and Fashion Show promises to be as spectacular as the inaugural event last year with a host of star studded names and a variety of exciting prizes up for auction. The day will kick off with a champagne reception followed by a keynote address from guest speaker Frances Black before the fashion show commences.

New opening hours for Youth Information Centre: New opening hours have been introduced at the Blanchardstown Youth Information Centre (YIC) in a bid to make the centre more user-friendly to younger people.
Fingal Freddie visits Hartstown: The walls of the school hall of Scoil Bhríde Girls’ Primary School were a riot of colour, shape and texture as the opening of the children’s art exhibition got under way recently.
Children’s art in Scoil Bhríde: Julie Defranoux who is employed by Blanchardstown Youth Service to work with the young people of Tyrrelstown has recently assisted five of those young people to develop and complete a survey aimed at improving the quality of the bus service for the local community.
Spring clean for Hazelbury: There was a good response to the Hazelbury Residents’ Association’s call to arms recently as Hazelburians got down to some serious spring cleaning in preparation for summer.
