A celebration of life: They say that true history is not recorded in the annals of kings but in the stories of the poor, handed down by word of mouth from generation to generation.

Sun shines for Hazelbury party: There was some rare good fortune for the organisers of the annual Hazelbury street party recently when, as well as the 150 residents that attended the event, the sun also decided to put in an appearance.

A long long way from Clare to here : The Niall Mellon Township Trust was established in 2002 to provide homes to the impoverished communities in the townships in South Africa. In the first year of operation it built 150 homes and this year it will build 7,000 homes for some of South Africa’s poorest people.

Toddler Time : TSince it opened in 2001, Blanchardstown Library has always prided itself on the provision of classes and courses for all sections of society. One of the most popular groups in the intervening seven years has been the Parent and Toddler group which last year met three times a week, such was the demand for places.

Making Dublin 15 a safer place to live : “The Safer Blanchardstown Forum is very much a facilitatory project aimed at bringing the various partners together to tackle crime and fear of crime as well as dealing with anti-social behaviour in the Dublin 15 area.”
Older folk go online : Lilian Harris is Community Development Officer with Blanchardstown Area Partnership. While she works to a very wide brief, one part of her job which gives her particular satisfaction is her work with older people in the area.

CDT celebrates 10 years of service : On Friday September 19th the CDT will be marking its tenth year of service to the community by organising a birthday celebration at its base in Parslickstown House, Mulhuddart.
Community coffee shop relaunched : Huntstown Community Centre has relaunched its coffee shop with a new range of lunchtime and teatime snacks.
