Cead cainte i gCorduff?: A new initiative by Corduff Community Development Project in conjunction with Ionad sees the creation of a Gaeltacht day in Corduff where all activities will be undertaken in the first national language.

Sun shines on CDT anniversary celebrations: Even the sun was shining to underline the air of celebration at Parslickstown House in Mulhuddart when over 100 people sat out on the lawn of the old house to mark the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Mulhuddart / Corduff Community Drugs Team.

Community Safety Week : At the time of going to press, Community Safety Week, organised by the Safer Blanchardstown Forum is in full swing with large numbers of people attending the various events which culminate in a day long series of demonstrations by the Fire Brigade, Red Cross and St. John’s Ambulance in the Blanchardstown Centre on Saturday 27th September.

Friendly Call Service raising awareness : The Friendly Call Service which provides a pro-active telephone service to several hundred older and vulnerable people throughout North Dublin city and county recently held its inaugural golf classic at the Blackbush Golf Club in Dunshaughlin.

Anger management on local radio : “I've lived in Blanchardstown since I was born. I know what it's like. Whether you're a teen with nothing better to do than drink in a field, whether you're getting turned down from nightclubs by giant oafs at the door, or stuck-up women inside, or whether you're being thrust into voting for stuff that you don't understand in the slightest, I've been there and know what it's like.”
Good vibes in Poznan : Last January, the Blanchardstown Youth Service (BYS) set up a consultation group for young people between the ages of 14-18 with the aim of giving Dublin 15 teens a chance to discuss the issues relevant to young people in the area.

Coolmine graduates : Coolmine Community school recently celebrated its 2008 graduates at a function at Westmanstown. It was, as always on these occasions a bitter-sweet atmosphere as it was essentially celebratory, yet had the poignancy of the over-arching reality that the group would never be together like that again.
Going for bronze in Blakestown : Following the success of a group of young people from Blakestown in achieving their bronze awards under Gaisce, The Presidents Award scheme, a further group of fifth year students from Blakestown Community school are preparing to enter this year’s awards project.
Cancer support service : The highly acclaimed ARC (Cancer Support Centre) based in Eccles Street is currently taking its message out into local communities to make people more aware of the services it offers to people affected by cancer and those who care for them. The Community Awareness Open Night for Dublin 15 residents will take place in the Halfway House in Ashtown on Monday 13th October at 7.30 p.m.
Blanchardstown in the rare ould times : Parishioners from St. Brigid’s parish in Blanchardstown turned out in force recently for the launch by local Bishop Raymond Field of a new book by Woodview Grove resident Betty Cronin.
Clean water calendar : The Minister for the Environment John Gormley TD was the guest of honour at a recent ceremony held in Blanchardstown Library to launch the 2009 Europe Direct calendar. This year’s calendar featured the winning photographs from the all-Ireland primary schools photography competition on the theme of: ‘Clean water – we need it for work, life and play’.
