Ongar residents demonstrate at showhouses: A major rift has developed between Manor Park Homes developers and residents of Ongar who are angered at what they claim is “the shoddy way in which we have been treated by their management company.”
Three years for interfering with witness : One of two brothers who were interviewed by gardaí in connection with the feud which lead to the death of the two Glennon brothers, has been jailed for 3 years by the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for interfering with the principal prosecution witness in last year’s infamous Leisureplex attempted murder trial.
Bin collection row hots up : Even though private refuse collection company Greenstar will not be entering the Dublin 15 market until later this year they were clearly stung by the comments made by Fingal County Council’s Director of Environmental Services PJ Howell in last month’s issue of Community Voice.
Outrage as local autism unit remains idle :“It really is quite scandalous that the specially designed wing for children with autism in the Castleknock Educate Together School is still lying idle and locked almost a year and a half after it was built,” said local Labour Party TD, Joan Burton in the recent Dáíl debate on autism.
Minister praises work at Coolmine Lodge : The success of the Coolmine Therapeutic Community assisting clients to overcome their dependence on drugs and alcohol was underlined recently when Pat Carey TD, Minister of State with responsibility for the National Drugs Strategy visited the centre on Grove Road.
Award for D15 water tower : One of the largest engineering projects of its type in Ireland has recently been completed in Dublin 15 by Fingal County Council. The newly completed reservoir at Ballycoolin is the largest covered reservoir in the country.

Driver testing centre :The long drawn out saga of the use of the old AIB premises on Blanchard town’s Main Street may finally be coming nearer fruition with the news that a fresh planning application for the conversion of the premises to use as a driver testing centre are about to be lodged with Fingal County Council.

Five years for abusing children : A man from Carpenterstown has been jailed for five years for sexually abusing his daughter as well as six other girls over a 15 year period from 1974 to 1989.

Two Castleknock teens nominated for award: Two Castleknock teenagers have been shortlisted for a major award that honours voluntary work carried out in their communities.

   
  New general manager for Europe’s biggest indoor water centre: When you are actually called after a river, it probably is no surprise that you develop an interest in water sports. Teifion Williams, the recently appointed manager of the National Aquatic Centre sums it up saying “I suppose you could say that water is in my blood”.  
   
  Sporting Fingal project criticised by Sinn Féin: The Blanchardstown branch of Sinn Féin has strongly criticised the launch of the new Sporting Fingal soccer club as an exercise in “unacceptable grandiose corporate branding that will see millions of council money being spent on a dream team, while local clubs beg and borrow to make ends meet.”
