Fingal owed €40m for school sites: An initiative developed by Fingal County Council to enable the speedy purchase of sites for schools in the county, which recently won the prestigious Taoiseach’s Award for Excellence in Public Service, has left the council with a massive debt of €19m.
Taoiseach visits Dublin 15 : Taoiseach Brian Cowen visited the Blanchardstown Centre recently on his Lisbon campaign bus to promote his party’s yes vote in the upcoming referendum. He was accompanied on the visit by Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan and Minister of State Dick Roche.
Kellystown being rezoned for houses NOT schools says Council : In a letter that will greatly anger local community activists, Fingal County Council’s director of planning has told local councillors that the reason for rezoning 140 acres of land at Kellystown is not to secure school sites for the area but simply to allow for more housing development.
“Just running the country on autopilot” : Community Voice caught up with Mr Eamon Gilmore, Labour Party leader on a recent visit to Dublin 15. Mr Gilmore's opinion of the new cabinet was “This is just a recycled Government with a change of captain, a few players dropped and a couple of subs brought on. It’s really just the same old, same old.They had the opportunity and they simply presided over the country on autopilot."
Tyrrelstown survey launched : JFrom 2002 to 2006, the population of the new estates of Tyrrelstown increased by 296% to 3,663. With probably an extra one thousand inhabitants since the last Census night, the area can probably claim to be one of the fastest expanding areas in the country.
Phibblestown schools contracts signed : Contracts for the provision of advance accommodation to facilitate the opening of both Phibblestown Community College and Scoil Ghráinne Community National School, also in Phibblestown, next September have been signed by the County Dublin VEC – patron of both schools.

€200,000 in grants for local projects: Four community projects in Dublin 15 will benefit to the tune of €203,000 in the recent allocation of grants by Fingal County Council under its Community Capital Funding Scheme of 2008.

“Misunderstanding” leads to amputated ear : A Congolese man living in Brompton Grove has been remanded on bail pending sentencing by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court following his guilty plea on a charge of assaulting a woman at his home in March 2007.
