Hospice site approved: After a number of years of fundraising and much lobbying the long-awaited site for a hospice for Dublin 15 has been approved by the Government.
Dublin 15 man elected Mayor of Fingal : A Dublin 15 councillor has been elected Mayor of Fingal for the first time in seven years at this month’s annual general meeting of Fingal County Council. Cllr. Michael O’Donovan was elected to the position by 20 votes to 3 in a ballot between himself and one of Dublin 15’s other councillors, Ruth Coppinger.
Extra county council seat for Mulhuddart : The recently published report of the Local Electoral Area Boundary Committee has proposed a redrawing of electoral boundaries throughout the Fingal county area the net result of which will see an additional council seat being allocated to the Mulhuddart area.
New boundaries affect existing councillors: While generally speaking most residents will be unaffected by the new electoral area boundary changes, no less than four of the existing eight councillors representing Dublin 15 are directly and personally affected by the changes
Private park & ride proposed for Clonsilla : Local residents and developers Paul and Harry Warnock have now decided to capitalise on the lack of provision by state agencies of park and ride facilities by offering their own solution to the problem with a privately operated park and ride service in Clonsilla.
Bogus collectors stealing from disabled : A leading Irish charity has been forced to abandon door-to-door clothing collections because of the number of bogus collectors currently operating in the area.

Mace robber jailed: A former heroin addict arrested after the attempted robbery of the Mace shop on Main Street, Blanchardstown has been sentenced to five years in prison.

The Lisbon Treaty - how Dublin 15 voted : The recent Lisbon treaty referendum has been hashed and rehashed ad nauseum by all the media – most of which are now seeking to explain how the electorate “got it wrong”.

Local builder off to South Africa: Master carpenter and builder Paul Doolin from Herbert Road in Blanchardstown village will be putting his talents to a more philanthropic use this year as he jets out with another 2,100 volunteers for the Niall Mellon Township Trust building blitz in Khayelitsha, South Africa.
 

Castleknock conference discusses violence against women: The Dublin 15 based Interfaith Roundtable has developed an exemplary track record on its activities and conferences on a range of peace issues over the last few years.

   
  Hospice gets €11,000 from art exhibition : A few years ago following the sad death of one of its members, the Castleknock Art Group decided to embark on a fundraising project in aid of the proposed new Dublin 15 St Francis Hospice in Abbotstown.
