Healthcare Centre plans shelved: Plans to build healthcare centres in Corduff and Mulhuddart may have to be shelved following cutbacks by the HSE. Money which had been allocated to the project has been withdrawn and it is now being suggested a private developer be sought to fund and build the centres instead.

Young people at risk affected by education cuts : The recent decision by the Department of Education and Science to implement a cut of 3% on all payroll costs is likely to have a major impact on the services of two school completion programmes operating in Dublin 15.

Ben Dunne wins appeal against Blanchardstown Centre extension : Ben Dunne, the former supermarket tycoon and owner of the Westpoint Health & Fitness Club at the Blanchardstown Centre, has been successful in his opposition to the proposal by Green Property to build an extension to the centre on a site adjoining his fitness club.
Roselawn beauty salon planning application refused again : The controversy over the unauthorised operation of a beauty salon in a private house on Roselawn Road looks like it is finally coming to an end.
Anger at school building delays: A total of seventeen major school building projects in the Dublin 15 area are currently stuck in the planning log jam, it has been revealed by the Department of Education.
Road signs agreed for Porterstown Road : In what must surely be something of a record, Scoil Choilm the new community national school on Porterstown Road was built in a mere 17 weeks. While this was a very welcome development for the parents of children attending the school, the very speed of its construction has brought with it some other difficulties.

Information service for parents launched : An innovative new drop in information and support service for parents of children in primary education in Dublin 15 has been launched by the National Parents Council Primary (NPC-P) at a function in the recently opened Castaheany Educate Together NS in Ongar.

Managing management companies : TThe recent meeting organised by the local Labour Party to discuss problems around the contentious issue of management companies proved to be a highly successful one.


Donnelly selected as Sinn Féin candidate: The local elections may not be due until next May, but already local parties are starting to gear up for the fray by selecting their candidates for next year’s contests. The Sinn Féin party is early out of the traps and recently selected sitting councillor, Paul Donnelly to contest the seat in the Mulhuddart electoral area.
 

O’Gorman for Europe?: At the recent selection convention, local Green Party candidate for the Castleknock electoral area, Roderic O’Gorman was selected as the party’s ‘first replacement’ for Senator De Burca.
