of D15 off licences sold alcohol to minors :
In a recent programme of “test purchasing” of alcohol
in local off licences by Blanchardstown Gardaí, over 70% of premises
visited sold alcohol to underage customers. Gardaí are now considering
prosecutions of some or all of the premises involved in this illegal trade.

A&E services to be retained in Connolly says HSE : Minister
Joan Burton said she had been “advised by the HSE that they are
committed to maintaining a full Accident and Emergency service in Connolly
Hospital.”

defence campaign launched : The first action of the newly formed
Defend Blanchardstown Hospital campaign will be a public protest meeting

weather pitch for Hartstown Park : A new full size all weather

therapy waiting list grows : Luke Brennan is
a 3 year old little boy from Castleknock. Luke has an acquired hearing
loss which has now been corrected but as a result he is approximately
2 years behind in his speech.

Park Station to be renamed: Iarnród
Éireann is to invite rail passengers to suggest a new name for the
Phoenix Park Train Station following complaints from confused passengers.

proposes Community National School model for Carpenterstown:
Co.
Dublin VEC has unveiled plans for further community national schools in
its area including a proposal for one in the Carpenterstown area with a
projected opening date in September 2013. |

school building programme continues despite cuts : The past
year has been a reasonably positive one on the education front for Dublin
15 with new school buildings coming on stream and more in the pipeline. |

station screens to be finally switched on : Over the past
number of years, readers have contacted Community Voice to complain about
the information screens at local railway stations which have lain idle
since they were installed over seven years ago. |

Phoenix
Park road works delayed
: Work on the resurfacing of Chesterfield Avenue
in the Phoenix Park, which was due to take place towards the end of the
summer, has now been delayed until later in the year.

Station
clamping annoys Dubs fans : The
Phoenix Park railway station is regarded by most local commuters as something
of a white elephant. In general the number of passengers using it is quite
limited due to its remoteness from most local housing areas.

years ago an English lawyer, Peter Benenson, was enraged to read a newspaper
account of the arrest of two Portuguese students who had been arrested and
jailed for raising a toast to freedom in a Lisbon café. |

Suspected
poisoning of Lohunda cats : A
Lohunda cat lover was shocked recently when two of her cats died within
hours of each other from suspected poisoning and a third was similarly taken
ill two days later. |
