Wedding Day blues : Eagerly anticipated, the latest offering by Coolmine Drama Circle will be Didi’s Big Day, an uproarious comedy about how the perfect wedding day can turn into a nightmare when long buried secrets are revealed.

The Pope and Frank Sinatra : This month’s double helping of movieology features two celebrated masterpieces of the genre, Carol Reed’s The Agony and the Ecstasy and Vincente Minnelli’s Some Came Running.

Tesco boost for Shirley : When Shirley Benton’s first novel Looking for Leon was published in trade paperback at the beginning of the year, she little realised how successful the book was destined to become.

Get down to the Rhythm of Life : Coolmine Musical Society’s 30th anniversary production is Sweet Charity, which premiered on Broadway in 1966 and is loosely based on Federico Fellini’s screenplay for Nights of Cabiria.

Thirty years of CMS : When Coolmine Community School opened its doors for night classes in 1978, one of the courses on offer was a singing class. This led to the formation of Coolmine Choral Singers.

Arts classes at Draíocht : As a centre for the arts, Draíocht has of course been pre-eminent over the past ten years in bringing top-class entertainment to Dublin 15, hitherto something of an artistic backwater. Whether it is drama, comedy or dance, folk music, opera or musicals, Draíocht has the ability to attract the best of what is out there.

Writing 3.0 : In 2005, Fingal County Council established ‘Finscéal: A Writer’s Trail of Fingal’ a literary initiative for readers and writers in Fingal. Each year a specialised programme of events and workshops was created each year as a direct result of feedback received from the readers’ and writers’ groups in Fingal.
And Briefly..... : A roundup of Arts events in Dublin 15 and beyond.
